Fashion-wise friend…hmmmm…wish I had me one of those..oh wait, my wife buys all my clothes…never mind….that is an EXCELLENT solution…as long as the shopper allows the fashion-wise friend to show the wisdom and the shopper follows it.

Oh, my prayers are with the shopper. I am facing the same thing here. New city, new company, not a lot of help from dear DH (her: what were the women wearing last year? him: they all looked nice and pretty dressed up). No clue here, hoping for some inspiration when I arrive at the store…

I’m sure she would appreciate all these comments. A word about black dresses, though. They DO go out of style. I’m just sayin. (There’s one in a closet, she tells me, that won’t work. At all. Not a chance.)

Perhaps she will offer up the shopping experience and learn a great lesson in the redemptive power of suffering. Or maybe she’ll come limping home, having spent hard earned money on something that’s not horse related or Christmas shopping related or bills paying related, and feel OK about it.

Hard telling. I hear she’s hard to get along with and all that. He will be relieved, of course, when it’s all said and done, her on his arm, glass of something stronger than coffee for both. :)

I can’t help but be him in this little vignette, fairly unaware of the storm that was suddenly unleashed. A wonderful, yet understated, intention to be involved with his honey and let her know how much he loved her and wanted her to do something nice for herself because he REALLY likes to be seen with her and show her off because she is his per of great price.

OK, I know we guys can be clueless but my 2 cents goes for that black dress…always fashionable, easy to accessorize, excellent multi-use capability and I have never EVER seen a woman who didn’t look fantastic in one.

She should do what the rest of us with no fashion sense do… wear a simple, modest black dress, matching black shoes. Coat? I usually went without during my time going to those dreaded company Christmas parties…
