Outside my window: It’s dark, because it’s night. Waaaaay past my bedtime, in fact. Usually I have a “no computer” rule after dinner, but that’s been sliding in the last few months and today’s been full. I just finished this great book and I can’t wind down just yet, so here I am.

Around the house: The kids are asleep, the stockings still hung. The man’s on his laptop tapping away (we all have work to do tomorrow, after all), and there’s football on.

What I’ve been writing: Not much. In fact, it’s been a bit of a break. I’ll come out of it tomorrow,  though. I have a few things waiting for me.

In my kitchen: There’s a fridge full of goodness and an opened bottle of pink champagne. Need I say more? :)

In my thoughts: Good stories, family time, and the joy of keeping the decorations up for a week (or two) longer than everyone else.

In my plans: A three-day workweek, with kids underfoot (in a most delightful way, don’t get me wrong), a wonderful little Friday treat for me, and more reading. I need to do some writing and some planning and did someone say laundry? No? Well, good.

In thanksgiving: For family, and especially for the girl who made New Year’s always significant to me.

Nose inserted: I’m torn right now. A great novel (Operation Screwtape, by ) and a great preview of a book that’s coming out in March (Something More, Randy Hain’s latest).

Recent reads: I’m actually going to start my Tuesday Book Notes “recent reads” round-up again at CatholicMom.com…next week. So find me there. :)

A favorite thing: Goodreads and a resolution I may just be able to keep:

Yes, I’m going to try to read 100 books in 2013. And maybe I’ll make it (I hit 95 last year…and I was shocked…I aimed for 65 or some such and then upped it late in the year).

Food for thought: May you be able to pronounce your “yes” to God’s designs every day, with the same humility with which the Holy Virgin said her “yes.” — Pope Benedict XVI on June 24, 2010
