What advice do YOU have?

Instead of reflecting on today (I did that last year, and the year before TWICE, so have fun if you want birthday reflections), I thought I’d turn to you, the silent audience of my blog.

birthday36

Today is my 36th birthday. I’m not feeling old or, really, anything other than a jumble of considering what I need to get done on this Thursday.

So, it’s your turn. Your gift to me, if you will.

What advice would you offer to me on my 36th birthday?

What wisdom do you have to share, as you look back or look forward to your own 36th birthday? What great quote or wonderful image can you share?

Credit to Jen for thinking of this long ago (though I just can’t find the link and am too lazy to keep digging…) (And…are you praying for her? Start. Now.)

And no, that’s not my cake. It’s a photo I found from MorgueFile.

Forgive yourself as freely as you forgive others. And don’t forget to have fun!

Yikes. Wisdom? That’s asking a lot! But you deserve it.

I suppose I would suggest you keep offering yourself to the world (or at least the internet) through your important ministry, while being sure to care for yourself and fuel yourself with prayer, companionship, and solitude (and perhaps with some delicious birthday cake, too).

    Happy happy birthday!

    OK, I’ll go first.

I turned 36 about…well, not quite last century, but pretty close. My advice is to stop having birthdays. In fact, when I turned 45, I decided to start going backwards in age. If you continue to have normal birthdays, we will pass each other in about 4 years.

Enjoy your life at every stage, be grateful every day, and you will never ever feel old.

And a bottle of wine helps a great deal.

    Happy Birthday!!

No great words of wisdom for you. But Happy Birthday!

I borrowed this from Megan K. for a New Year’s resolution, but loved it so much, I’m now sharing it with you. :-) My advice for 36 is to pursue pointless joy every chance you get this year. Good for the soul. Happy birthday!

Yay! Happy Birthday and advice?! I’m following you and breathing down your neck for advice! Seriously, though, what I notice now that I’m actually well into the 30s…is that WHOA does time fly and HOLY COW do our children grow up fast. I have been blessed to discover Centering & Contemplative Prayer and am in the beginning stages of implementing this into my daily prayer life. I imagine you have a well established prayer routine in the Rosary, but I would add trying something new to your prayer life. Keep ya on your toes!

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Keep putting yourself out there. Live the best life you can.

      No. Freakin. Way.

But thanks for the laugh. :)

You’re only as old as you feel, happy birthday Sarah! May God bless and continue to guide you in all you do for the kingdom of heaven on earth. :-)

Happy (BELATED) Birthday! Enjoy being a perfect square. That doesn’t happen again until you’re 49. But maybe don’t act square.

OK, so I’m slow. On my 36th birthday I was expecting Little Brother, in formation with the Secular Franciscans, and a month and a half shy of that collective loss-of-national-innocence that was 9/11. So for me, 36 was a year of much learning and many changes (mostly good). I pray that for you, 36 will be a good year, with joy, good health, learning and laughter.
