Meet Other Catholic Bloggers

I posted this list at the Catholic Writers Guild blog yesterday, but wanted to share it here, too.

One thing I love to do when I speak about blogging is to send a piece of paper around the room and collect everyone’s blog links and then SHARE THEM. This goes along with the generosity I believe we should all have with our online space (within reason).

This list includes everyone who filled out the page I sent around the room as I moderated the panel. I’ll list our panelists first:

Now, for those who participated:

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful participation in the panel! I hope we can expand it in coming years and continue to connect.

If you want to know more about what I learned and found and experienced at the Catholic Writers Conference Live, be sure to check out my posts this week at the Catholic Writers Guild blog!

Author Blogs from CWCO [updated]

I’m teaching a forum and leading two chats on blogging at the Catholic Writers Conference Online this week, and, as I did with the Catholic New Media Celebration, I wanted to share the list of participant’s blogs with you.

A big welcome to those popping in to check out my space on the web. (It’s a work-in-progress right now, I assure you.)

UPDATED to add these fine folks, who aren’t necessarily active in my forum, but who have been at the conference:

In Celebration of Catholic Media Promotion Day

It’s Catholic Media Promotion Day! Let’s hear a YAY!!!

Our mission today is two-fold. First, list your favorite 3 blogs, 3 podcasts, 3 other media, 3 random Catholic things online, and your own projects.

So here goes, but not without a caveat…ONLY THREE?!?!? Ah, I list these, and must tell you, I could double these lists with no problem. Yes, there’s THAT MUCH great content!

Blogs:

Podcasts:

Other Media:

Random Catholic Stuff Online:

My Own Projects:

Now, for the second part of our mission today: Go to iTunes and leave at least 3 positive written reviews for Catholic podcasts and 3 positive written reviews for Catholic mobile applications. I am also going to go to Amazon and leave 3 positive reviews for my favorite Catholic books.

I’ll share the ones I’ll be highlighting (since I think I’ve already left reviews for everything above–I will be making sure of that!):

Podcasts I’ll be reviewing:

Apps I’ll be reviewing:

Books I’ll be reviewing:

In This Together

Have you heard about the Catholic Media Promotion Day? This is the brainchild of Greg Willits (The Catholics Next Door and Rosary Army), and I heard about it from Lisa Hendey.

First, go and LIKE the page on Facebook.

On March 15, list your favorite 3 blogs, 3 podcasts, 3 other media, 3 random Catholic things online, and your own projects using whatever media you use–blog, podcast, Facebook.

Then, when you’re done with that, post the link to your at the CMP Facebook page.

Your final assignment for March 15 is this: Go to iTunes and leave at least 3 positive written reviews for various Catholic podcasts and 3 positive written reviews for Catholic mobile applications.

Lisa suggests this, too: go to Amazon and leave 3 positive reviews for your favorite Catholic books.

It’s a tall order. For someone like me, this is going to take some thinking ahead (lest I forget). But, you know what? There are some GREAT folks doing GREAT work, and this is a wonderful way to support them.

So we’ll be (once again) pausing our Tuesday study of Orthodoxy and focusing on great Catholic media on Tuesday.

Will you join in?

Seven Lenten Favorites

There are other Lenten resources in my sidebar, too, and they’ll remain there until Easter (or whenever I remember to update). Last year, I highlighed seven Lenten links, too.

Karen’s Go-To Post

I went to it. In fact, I go to it every year. Chock-full of great stuff, all easy to implement and very accessible for those of us who are (a) craft-challenged and (b) intimidated by all the ways to share the seasons with our kids.

Papa’s Thoughts

Every year, the Holy Father writes a Lenten message. It’s not long this year, but it’s great reading. Make it a priority to read it.

Praying Lent

I love Creighton University’s Praying Lent site. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want. (If they only had an app…)

Thinking about Lent

All three of Michelle’s “Thinking about Lent” posts caught my attention, and I really appreciated the last one as a tardy-by-accident sort of person lately. Check out all three: Prayer, Penance, and Change.

40 Ways and a Top 10 List

I loved Danielle Bean’s list of 40 different ideas for Lent. You might too, especially if “easy does it” strikes a chord with you. She has them organized by Pray, Fast, and Give. She also re-ran the Top 10 Lenten Observances for Kids at Faith & Family Live, which is worth a read too.

Considering the Our Father

The brilliant Jen Fulwiler is considering the Our Father word-by-word. Her first post, OUR, is up, and I’m eagerly awaiting the future posts. This is going to change how I embrace this prayer, and what a great reflection for Lent.

Fiction for Lent

One year I gave up fiction for Lent. Not so this year, and I love that Julie, Queen Bibliophile, has assembled a list of fiction that’s appropriate for Lenten reading.

What are your favorite Lenten links and resources?

Blogs from CNMC MMX Attendees

I promised a listing from my session at the Catholic New Media Celebration, and here it is. Thanks to y’all for making it a great session and for inspiring my work here. Thanks too for everyone who made me feel comfortable and like I belonged (as opposed to feeling like out-of-place 7th-grader finding herself mistakenly at the senior prom).

If I forgot anyone, or if you were there and didn’t get a chance to sign my sheet in my session, leave your link in the comments and I’ll add it back to the post afterward. (And, of course, if you notice that your link is broken or incorrect, just let me know and I’ll fix it with an apologetic smile.) :)

I think I’m going to also start a list of blogs started and/or inspired by this year’s CNMC — if you know of any (or if you have one), let me know and I’ll get a list started!
