My Blog’s Personality Type

We interrupt serious blogging for something just as importantthe Myers Brigg-ing of my blog! (How could I resist?)

Unlike me, a firm ENTJ for years and years, my blog, it appears, is just another floozy in the blogosphere. (And I’m OK with that. We’re in good company, after all!)

ESFP – The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead – they are always in risk of exhausting themselves. The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation – qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

As if that’s not intriguing enough to keep me occupied for hours, check out this chart (there’s a part of me jumping up and down, I tell you!):

Analysis

This show what parts of the brain that were dominant during writing.

Thanks to Ironic Catholic for the diversion. :)

Today’s 6th Picture

Barb had this, and since it’s Wordless Wednesday, and since I just couldn’t resist (and since tomorrow’s sixth picture will for sure be something different!), here you go:

The sixth picture from the sixth folder (or, in iPhoto, the sixth event) on my computer:

Aunt Nenny and Babs playing “musical instaments” with baby Noonie looking on (read as: plotting how to get her hands on that guitar!) a month ago when we were visiting Nama and Poppa’s house.

Four Things Meme

I’m pretty far behind on memes. Maybe I’ll do a meme a day until I catch up (which would be approximately three months from now, because I’m sure to fall behind again…).

In any event, I’m sure I’ve done this before, but since it’s quick, I’m going to do it again. :)

Fun Saturday Morning Meme

The question has been asked: “How well do you know your husband?”

I found this over at SFO Mom, though it started with Regular Guy. I am buried under other memes, but had to do this one… :) Update: turns out I was tagged by Jean.

1. Sitting in front of the TV, what’s on the screen?
Football!!! And boy is he happy it’s back on – he’s been pining away…

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Ranch, on the side.

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like?
Onions. Nope, you can’t hide them by cutting them up really small or microscopically. You can’t make them blend in by roasting them and making them sweet. It’s a texture thing, he tells me. And I have never seen him fooled. Ever.

4. You go out to the bar. What does he order?
Is this a way of asking his favorite drink? Because it depends. If it’s hot out, he might order a beer. If we’re on a date (we probably are in this scenario), then he might order a Crown and Coke, or maybe even Crown on the rocks. Like I said, it depends. :)

5. Where did he go to high school?
A fine Catholic high school in Cowtown.

6. What size shoe does he wear?
13 quadruple-wide. Shopping for shoes is always fun and always enlightening.

7. If he were to collect anything, what would it be?
In his ideal world, it would probably be old Corvettes. Not Matchbox either. Real ones. But since we aren’t millionaires (and we don’t really have anywhere to keep a bunch of old cars), a more realistic collection would be lovely daughters, don’t you think? :)

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Cheeseburger, well-done, ketchup and mayo only. In the event that’s not available, a PB&J (with homemade grape jelly) will do in a pinch.

9. What would he eat every day if he could?
See #8. And there have been weeks – months, even – when he has.

10. What is his favorite cereal?
Grape Nuts.

11. What would he never wear?
Pink. Or lotion. (Unlike Uncle D.) :)

12. What is his favorite sports team?
As if you need to ask! THE BUCKEYES!

13. Who will he vote for?
McCain/Palin (as if there’s a choice when you have to consider life issues)

14. Who is his best friend?
The fair and enchanting woman he married. At least, I like to think so. In the running would also be Big Brother Joe and Little Brother D and Isaacman. I think I trump them all, but maybe I’m dreaming. (No, I know I’m not. Just making the answer interesting.)

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do?
Bet this list should be longer…get all riled up about faith matters, get all riled up about moral issues, get all riled up about…well, anything. I think he wishes I also wouldn’t

16. How many states has he lived in?
Just the fine Buckeye state.

17. What is his heritage?
Big family, lots of laughs amid the hard times. German on the one side and Irish on the other.

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
First, you should know this about me already, but I’m not exactly a good baker or cook. Chocolate cake is his favorite and the one I made this year – with help from She Who Cooks With Flair and Style – went over pretty well. I think, though, that it wasn’t as much the taste as the Flair and Style inserted by a Certain Three Year Old Assistant. He’s not a fan of icing, either, and he’s only going to eat middle pieces.

19. Did he play sports in high school?
Why yes, yes he did. Football and basketball, and I think some track and cross-country. His love, though, was basketball. He would have played in college (if he had gone to college), but there was that injury his senior year, and then some circumstances that made college an adventure he would share later with his Best Friend and Girlfriend Wife. :)

20. What could he spend hours doing?
Watching football, stuff related to this Old Farmhouse and Property (not necessarily with any joy in that last one), playing basketball, listening to the girls laugh, playing with kids, enjoying a fine meal.

Only Six?

Julie tagged me a while back, so here are my six quirks.

1. While I can hold off on vacuuming until right before company arrives or it reaches maximum capacity, I cannot stand the thought of an unopened letter or an unread note from my hubby. (We leave each other little notes, and I’m helpless not to just gobble them up when he writes them to me.)

2. Though the laundry can sit folded (or unfolded, for that matter) in the baskets in the kitchen for a week or more, a cute baby or a visiting child wearing one of our cowboy hats cannot be unphotographed.

3. The weeds may reach new dimensions, but the sunflowers are tall and I’ve been blocking out the thought of all that yardwork, because the important things in life right now don’t include tackling six-foot milkweed.

4. Back in Lent, I started “offline evenings.” Though it’s helped my evenings immensely, it’s also put me waaaay behind on some online things (especially lately). What’s quirky about this? No idea. But I’m running out of time to get this done…

5. On particularly busy days, I’ll use bathroom breaks as my reward. For example, “OK, if you balance this bank account, get the ACH gifts set-up, and print all the payables checks before the baby wakes up, you can go to the bathroom.”

6. I’m always juggling quite a few things. I have found, though, that when I’m not busy, I make myself busy. So sometimes it’s just better to be humming along with the regular busy of life than to have “free” time when I’ll create busy for myself.

Just for fun, I’m tagging Jodi, Ebeth, Heidi, Kate, Wendy, and YOU (no blog? just leave in the combox).

FOR TODAY, August 25, 2008…

Outside My Window…it’s overcast and grumbly, with a hint of a breeze. We need the rain, so I hope this means we’ll get it!

I am thinking…of what needs done this week. I am also thinking of some writing I want to do, and how I’ve been burning for a year to write of where I grew up. I think I may just start, thanks to a book I just finished.

I am thankful for…a weekend where we celebrated 38 years of life by doing things together.

From the kitchen…is the basket of laundry I need to put away (it will have to be later), the bag I’m going to take to work (one of probably three), and the crock pot, all filled with chicken and just waiting for me to turn it on and leave so I can come home to dinner. (Saving Dinner is saving my life!)

I am wearing…pink shirt and dress pants.

I am creating…a few essays, a plan for the week, and this post.

I am going…to have to hurry – the baby just woke up!

I am reading…some review copies of books, an apostolic letter (Sacrimentum Caritatis), and Saving Dinner. This weekend I finished two books I’ve been reading for a while, so I’m at that crossroads where I get to think about what comes next (I think Charlotte Mason’s work – finally!).

I am hoping…that those teeth will finish coming in so we can get long stretches of sleep this week! I’m also hoping for rain.

I am hearing…about-to-stop-being-patient baby sounds from upstairs…

Around the house…the still before the flurry of activity.

One of my favorite things…is the smell of school supplies, and this is the time of year for that!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Write and post (I just love this new scheduling feature on Blogger!), write and save, write and reflect, all while making sure work is done, dinner is planned, laundry is put away, and kids are playing.

A picture thought I am sharing: is here (because that baby is just not going to last any longer!)

Friday Fun: The Mosaic Meme

I’ve seen this in two places, but I can only remember one. So thanks, Literacy Chic and whoever-else-it-was. This ranks right up there with highly addictive fun stuff I’ve found lately.
